of leader and ah ju...

Wahhhh.... it's been some time since i wrote something liao. So many things have happened till i also dunno where to start. maybe i will put in installments lah, not the 0% interest no downpayment type one, but more to the part by part one la.

Anyway, The 3 of us (for the un initiated, that'll be Sophie, wifey and me) met up with ah Ju and Leader for lunch the other day. Ah ju came back for a short vacation and we took up the chance to meet (and to show off our little girl of course). Then leader told me that i have not updated my blog for some time liao. Fowsh! so there are real people reading my blog :) Anyway, it was great meeting up with old friends and to top it off Ah ju belanja some more.

Met up with 2 of my old schoolmates last Sunday. Adam have been in the US for more than 10 year was was back for vacation, while Steven works in the same company as I am in now. I think we have not seen each other for more than 9 years and it was actually quite fun talking about school days. There is the occasional email jokes and updates, but that’s basically about it.
Both of them have not change much and they also mentioned that I have not change. I guess they were probably telling half truths as I recall having hair during my secondary school days. I have not seen Adam for obvious reasons (distance) but both Steven and I think that it’s peculiar that although we worked in the same company, we don’t really see each other. I guess it’s probably because our office were in different buildings but I guess it also says a lot about working in a big company and how it affects the interaction between employees.
I think actually it also says something about me as well. I kinda realize that I am not really the kind of person who is able to sustain long friendship with ex schoolmates or varsity mates. I think it’s more to that ‘Out of sight’ kinda thing. Not that I deliberately chose not to maintain contacts, but I guess sometimes when you don’t see each other and when we are all doing different things, the conversation topics seem to wear thin. So I guess these kind of meetings that we had last Sunday became more fun for me in a way and in fact there are lots of things that we can talk about. We still hate our school, we still wish we can maim or at least kill some of our seniors, we still think the basketball team is a joke and we still think that our school's HM is a HM (as in Horse Manure).
Therefore, I think I do value friends and the friendships that I have but I guess there is a flaw where I don’t seem to be able to maintain those that I seldom meet with, but I guess no one is perfect.

of getting out of poopoo and leg exercises...

A few years ago there was this joke kinda email that was sent out and went into quite a big circulation. I can’t recall the exact content but it’s something about a bird that did not manage to fly south during winter. It got so cold and and fell to the ground. As it lay there dying a cow came and poot poot right on top of it. The warmth of the poot poot brought the bird back to life and it sang for joy. A nearby cat hearing the bird came to investigate and promptly ate the bird. Then the email reveal the moral of the story, about not everyone who unload a pile of dung on you is necessarily bad and that if you got yourself out of deep poopoo, don’t make a big scene out of it as it will prove disastrous later.
Well, we sorta had that second part of the moral dished out to us on a silver platter last week. In one of the recent blog entry I mentioned that we probably have got the handle of managing Sue Yi. True to the bird and poopoo moral, it came back and bit us. We were not sure if it was a case of over stimulation, but Sue Yi does not seem to want to sleep. At most she will just sleep for an hour and then she will start stirring, which will then eventually be grow into a full blown cry. Even the cradle (thanks hijackqueen for informing on the correct term) does not help. She will even cry louder if put in there. Then at times she will just wanna to chat and smile. So I guess she have came back with a vengeance on telling us who’s boss.

Anyway, Timothy, Emily, Michelle, my brother, mom and dad came and visit us last nite. We were just about to finish feeding Sue Yi and everyone got a good look at her. (She was asleep the last time they came). According to wifey, my mom was busy checking who Sue Yi looked like. Michelle had a go at burping Sue Yi and she ended up getting a souvenir from Sue Yi. Sorry Michelle!

I got a good tip from an old friend (also named Michelle – we’ll call her Michelle T) about Sue Yi gas issue. She mentioned that she did leg exercise with her son to help him fart and release some pressure off his stomach. We did that for Sue Yi and it did helped her fart, in fact she farted so much that her gas probably can power a small car! (exaggerating only la). So thanks Michelle T!

of visitor and girlie chats...

Sue Yi got another visitor today. An ex colleague of mine and also Ah Ju, a mutual friend of wifey came over during lunch to visit. Sue Yi was asleep when Ah Ju arrived so we ended up just chatting in the living room while we Sue Yi slept. But I guess the sound of us chatting must have stirred her up and since it is already time for her milk, I fed her while wifey continue to chat with Ah Ju. I guess Sue Yi probably wanna join in with the girls and the refuse to go back to sleep after her feeding and start to fuss, until wifey and Ah Ju came in to talk to her. She seem so curious and animated when Ah Ju talked to her. Her eyes kep looking at Ju and she keep making noises. I wonder is she is gossiping about her parents to Ju, or probably just those normal idle girlie chat J. I guess she must have thought that we brought back a new toy for her. But alas, Ah Ju and I have to go back to work fob back to sleep for Sue Yi.

of lunch with the ladies and something about wet nurse...

Went out to have lunch with Leader, Ah Ju, Isaac’s mom and Wifey at fisherman’s grill today. The place was packed. Well what do you expect when their food are good and the atmosphere is nice. Anyway, Ah Ju and Isaac’s mom told me that they also read this blog (and book mark it some more) and that can only mean one thing. No more bitch talking about them in this blog*. Leader is another case altogether, she no longer follow this blog, which also means one thing. It’s open season on bitching about leader in this blog*.
As always, it is a learning experience when I have lunch with these ladies as they always have new information about this and that. Today is no different and the interesting bit of information that I learned today are mostly about breast milk. Apparently (according to Ah Ju), there are women who sort of like sell their breastmilk (something about wet nurse). The scheme goes something like this, the women who are lactating (story goes that after they give birth) will offer to breastfeed babies born to families who are willing to pay her for her breastmilk. According to the story, these women are paid and fed very well. For me, I find this a bit too freakish. I mean how does the women advertise this service anyway? Wearing a T-shirt with the words “Breasts for rent! (Contents included)” and walk around town?

Anyway, it was a good lunch and it’s great to catch up with old ladies friends once in a while.

And before I forget, Wifey and I would like to wish you our readers (yeah all five of you!) a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

*note: Leader, AhJu and Isaac’s mom, I seldom never bitch about you one la. You know that you are always in my heart of hearts, (after wifey, girl girl and a whole list of other folks of course).

of Ah Heng and electrons...

Managed to get back in touch with Ah Heng today. He was my roommate back when we were two virile strapping young stallions lazy bums in varsity. As our varsity was located light years away from civilization, we stayed in one of the hostels within the varsity compound where you get a bed, cupboard and a desk and a roommate to boot. In a way, you can say that I slept in the same bedroom with him for a couple of years in my life.

Ah Heng is the kind of guy that, every parent would wish for. Speaks softly and politely, says his thank yous and pleases, and will never ever get caught beating the crap out you anyone (or any being for that matter). But as with all engineering students, he (and unfortunately me too) has that pre requisite nerdy look complete with the side parting hairstyle and faux gold plated big rimmed glasses.

We were roommates in our 3rd and 4th year of our studies and when we completed our time in the varsity, we went our own ways. He went to KL to pursue a sinful life of cheap booze, loose women and debauchery a career in computer and those thing-a-magij. And I, being a good son, went back to Penang to sell the rest of my working life slaving for a factory making chips. Due to a potent mix of my finely tuned art of postponing things and his laziness, we sort of have lost contact. Actually not really lost contact, just that we know that each other is still alive but just never got the time* to email each other.
(* we are very busy people trying to solve world hunger you know)

I think the last time I saw him was more than 4 years ago when another of our mutual friend got hitched. At that time his first daughter was only about a few months old (and now she is 5) so you can imagine how long ago it was. Just out of the blue I thought of sms’ing him on the news that someone is going to be a daddy soon and that got back the communication going. I guess it’s one of those things that guys do. When girls leave school they will cry and cry and be sappy all over promising themselves to keep in touch and call and this and that, but for guys, I guess it’s more like a business transaction. We shake hands, wish good luck and exchange in audible grunts and go our own way.
If we don’t happen to work in the same place or bump into each other often enough, I guess it will be like Ah Heng and me.

It’s an interesting friendship (or rather brotherhood) that we enjoyed.

p/s: in case any of the ladies were wondering, Ah Heng is now happily married with 2 adorable daughters and running a company selling electrons**. so no chance already la.
(**don’t ask me to explain, I am quite blur myself)
