of nannies and a few key learnings...

I learnt something new yesterday. Our attempts at feeding Sue Yi for the past week were not very successful. She will never finish her feeding whenever it we tried to feed her. She will either fall asleep halfway, or push the teat out or get choked or something. But when the nannies at the nursery feeds her, she seem to be able to take it all in and finish the whole bottle as if to taunt us.
Anyway, when we took her out from the nursery last night, she start to kick up a fuss and cried. We calmed he down a few times but she will start to cry again a while later. I think after a while, one of the nanny decided that she had better intervene before we really break our baby. She came out and told us that probably Sue Yi needs more milk and proceed to get some more for her. Normally the nannies will take the baby into the nursery to feed her but this time the nanny came out and fed her at the living area. I guess this is a good thing for us as Wifey and I got a few very good pointers from her.
First if to prop Sue Yi in a more upright position so that she can drink easier. All the while we have been trying to feed her while cradling her in our arms so I guess we’ll have to make this correction.
Then she also mention to us to talk to Sue Yi, I guess it makes sense so that Sue Yi is awake and don’t fall asleep plus it serves an encouragement to her to finish her milk too.
Thirdly, to continue to leave the teat in Sue Yi’s mouth even when she do not suck because sometimes she will rest for a while between sucking. If Sue Yi don’t want any more milk, she’ll push it out with her tongue.
So I guess, I have learnt a thing or two and hopefully we can help Sue Yi finish the whole bottle the next round.
