of Easter Sunday and that "i got time" guy in astro...
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday. Last Friday was Good Friday. If you are not a Christian and not exposed to it then probably it’ll just be a normal day for you, but if you are interested to know what is the significance of these days then do read on. Who knows, this knowledge might make you look smart like that Indian guy in astro who keep saying “I got time”. Well, let me not belittle your intelligence and go long winded and tell you who Jesus Christ is and skip straight to my points here. (but then again if you really don’t know who He is then pop question in the comment and I will get back to you). Anyways, these are the basics, Jesus Christ as we all know came down to earth and spread the good news of Salvation from sin. Not only did he do that he is more importantly the solution or some people might call it payment for our sins. Christmas day is the day He was born and Good Friday was the day he died. By now some of you might be thinking that Christians are a bunch of fruitcakes, I mean who in the right mind celebrates the death of a person, especially one that they believe is a Son of God. Well the thing is, I do agree that one will be out of their mind to celebrate the death of a person, but if the death is a willful act to save you from (let’s just say) a very icky situation for a very very long time, wouldn’t you be celebrating it? I mean if you play monopoly and happens to land in jail, then the fella sitting opposite of you gives you the “get out of jail” card at the expense of his game, wouldn’t you be thinking that this fella must be the coolest guy in the world (if not the universe). So in a sense, Good Friday is the day that we got the card to get out of jail and the person who did it gave up his monopoly game so that we can have it. Now isn’t that a cause for celebration. So let’s celebrate this day, not with firecrackers but with the simple act of remembering that ‘Get out of jail’ care that we got.
OK now that we got some idea of what Good Friday is, let’s see what’s Easter Sunday means. Easter Sunday is basically the day Jesus Christ was resurrected (rose from the dead). Yes, for real, he died and came back. Now tell me how many people you know that can do that? So what is the significance you might ask. Well, quite a lot. In fact some folks believe this is as important (if not more ) than Christmas day itself. The resurrection proves that Jesus Christ is no ordinary dude. He is the real mc coy. He da man. It proves that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he has power over all. So there you have it. Now you can go out and sit with your buddies in the cafeteria and show off your new found knowledge.
