of jabs and the empress...
We went for Sue Yi’s 2nd month jab last Monday. For us, it was pretty convenient as the clinic is just a 5 mins drive from our apartment. First thing they did at the clinic is to weigh and measure Sue Yi. Then wifey and Sue Yi went for the consultation with the nurse. I was not allowed to go in as the nursed see 2 patients at the same room. Anyway, wifey told me that the nurse told her to not to make Sue Yi wear booties and mittens all the time. According to her, this is the time when babies start exploring and we should let her explore. I think that advise could not come sooner as we have been noticing that Sue Yi is beginning to pick up the freaky fascination to her mittens. She will sometimes look at her mittens until she get cross eyed. Then she will start to smell them. I think she somehow like the scent and probably that comfort her. She will smell her mittens and go to sleep. Then there were times that she will try to eat them. (Oi Sue Yi, too early for solids la!). Anyway, we have started to let her hands go naked but that brought about a new hobby for her, eating her hands.
Anyway, back to the clinic. After the consultation is the moment of truth. We were told to go to another room, and that is the you-know-what room. The nurse asked wifey to hold Sue Yi while she prepare the medication. First it’s the oral thing, no problem there, but Sue Yi, being the Empress that she is still managed to protest and cried out. Then came the jab. It’s suppose to go to the thigh but the needle was really long. It was as though it can poke thru Sue Yi’s thigh and come out the other end!! Anyway, it didn’t poke through the other side. And like any baby, Sue Yi let out the most heart wrenching rendition of her portfolio of cries. Wifey were all paled up but have to toughen up so that she can comfort Sue Yi. But surprisingly, her crying did not last long. By the time I got back from the pharmacy next door, she has stopped crying. I guess Diva Sue Yi, wants to protect her image. Musn’t be over flamboyant.
Anyway, her fever from the jab was mild and it passed it’s course smoothly so thanks everyone for your prayers.
